Location: Sharpsburg, Georgia, United States

"...because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them, and they worked together — by trade they were tentmakers." Acts 18:3. Tentmaker is a title taken by bi-vocational pastors. As such, I am both a pastor and a project manager. I am a pastor of a local congregation of moderate, accepting and affirming people who worship in the Baptist tradition. We call our church "Hope Memorial Baptist" and we are about 40 in number. I am also a project manager of major construction projects for the State of Georgia. My home and church is in rural Coweta County, between Peachtree City and Newnan, with a mailing address of Sharpsburg, Georgia.

Year C - Lent 2

Liturgy of the Word:

Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18
Psalm 27
Philippians 3:17 - 4:1
Luke 13:31-35
Call to Worship:
Let us worship God who is our light, our strength, and our salvation.
When our confidence is in God of whom shall we be afraid?
The Lord is my light, my light and my salvation
One thing we ask of God, one thing we seek - to live in the house of God all the days of our lives.
That we may behold the beauty of God in creation and in one another.
The Lord is my light, my light and my salvation
One thing we ask of God , one thing we seek - to trust the ways of God.
That we may know God’s goodness and strength all the days of our lives.

Collect (BCP):
O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Great Commandments:
…when the Pharisees had heard that [Jesus] had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Now is the Time of Repentance

Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name.
Almighty God strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen.

Invitation to the Lord's Prayer:
Jesus taught us how to pray
to our Father in heaven.
With God's beloved Son we pray:
Our Father...

Doxology:
Praise God from whom all blessing flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Amen

Deliver Us:
Deliver us, Lord, from every evil
and grant us peace in our day.
Reassure us in our trials
and help us to go without fear
the way of the victorious cross,
until you take us up in your eternal light
on the day of the coming in glory
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
For the Kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
both now and forevermore.
Amen.
