"...because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them, and they worked together — by trade they were tentmakers." Acts 18:3. Tentmaker is a title taken by bi-vocational pastors. As such, I am both a pastor and a project manager. I am a pastor of a local congregation of moderate, accepting and affirming people who worship in the Baptist tradition. We call our church "Hope Memorial Baptist" and we are about 40 in number. I am also a project manager of major construction projects for the State of Georgia. My home and church is in rural Coweta County, between Peachtree City and Newnan, with a mailing address of Sharpsburg, Georgia.

Deuteronomy 26:1-11
Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16
Romans 10:8b-13
Luke 4:1-13
Collect (BCP):

Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan: Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and, as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Lenten Lands

Here the whole world
(stars, water, air,
And field, and forest, as they were
Reflected in a single mind)
Like cast off clothes was left behind
In ashes, yet with hopes that she,
Re-born from holy poverty,
In lenten lands, hereafter may
Resume them on her Easter Day.
The Epitaph on the marker at the grave of Joy Davidman Lewis.

We lost our baby

Posted by Picasa
Agatha was a second generation pet. We rescued her mother (Francesca) eleven years ago. After a year she gave birth to a litter of 5, three girls and two boys. Agatha was the runt of the litter, but she was also the most precocious.

She got sick a week ago and Sandra took her to the vet. Over the weekend she got worse. This past Tuesday Sandra took her back to the vet because she wouldn't eat or drink. She was severly dehydrated and her kidneys were swolen. All of her systems were shutting down. Sandra had to make the decision to put her down.
